What's Wrong with This Picture? (#1)

What's wrong with this picture? I'm not asking about color choices or body proportions, I mean something wrong in how the characters/event/setting are portrayed.

Come up with an answer, and preferably a scripture that supports it, then scroll down for mine---no cheating!

What's wrong? See Leviticus 19:27, "Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard." If Nephi is the righteous one, why is he clean shaven?

They made him shave it off when he applied to BYU

I've always been more troubled by the Virgin Mary's appearance in this picture. Look at the water between Nephi's right knee and his brother. There she is, shroud and all.

According to the Book of Mormon Movie and the Work and the Glory film version, facial hair represents evil.

Nephi was a YOUNG man even a teenager. not all men get facial hair when they are 12

I don't buy it. All of the popular paintings of Nephi show him beardless. And he certainly looks way older than 12 in this particular painting.

That was what I thought too ;)

But, even with the beard discussed, what about the fact he has a short hair cut was well?

short hair would have been expected. From what I understand, long hair was considered feminizing---at least at the time of Jesus. And there was no Mosaic proscription of cutting hair behind the ears.
